Access and navigation

The Access tab controls which items appear in the left sidebar and in what order. It's how you stop a technician staring at nine icons when they need three.

The Access settings page

1. Hidden items live here too

The list includes things that aren't in your sidebar by default. Equipment is one: it exists at /equipment and works, but it's switched off until you enable it here.

Time Tracking is also listed. On this version it redirects to the Dashboard rather than opening a page, so leave it off until that changes.

2. Reorder

Each row has a reorder control. Drag items so the things your team uses most sit at the top, where they're easiest to hit on a phone.

For a field-heavy business the natural order is Schedule, Map, Customers, then everything else. The Dashboard is an owner's page, and it's the default first item mostly by convention.

3. Save

Nothing applies until you click Save.

What this does and doesn't do

Access changes what's visible. Roles change what's permitted. They're different things and it matters: hiding Reports from the sidebar does not stop someone with the right role reading a report they navigate to directly.

Use Access to reduce clutter. Use roles to control data.

Tips and gotchas

  • Visibility is not security. Use roles for that.
  • Equipment is hidden by default. This is where you turn it on.
  • Leave Time Tracking off while it redirects to the Dashboard.
  • Order for phones. Most of your team is using this one-handed.
